Ngadju Employment Traineeship Program

At IGO we are committed to ensuring our communities benefit from our growth and are actively creating engaging and purposeful opportunities for people of Ngadju heritage to work with us at our flagship Nova Nickel-Copper-Cobalt Operation, located in the Fraser Range region of Western Australia.

Various roles are available to suit all levels of experience, including (but not limited to) our entry level 2-Year Ngadju Employment Traineeship Program which empowers trainees to gain experience across the exploration and mining cycle.

This is a flexible and supportive program, where trainees are offered the opportunity to work in a number of different positions with the choice to undertake formal studies during the program (if desired). IGO encourages trainees to choose their own path and provide mentoring and support to enable trainees to achieve their definition of success at the end of the program.

If you would like to learn more about how IGO can support you to achieve your career and development goals, please email talent@igo.com.au

Applications for our Ngadju Employment Traineeships are now open and will close Monday 6 September 2021.

Graduates

Each year our Graduate Program offers outstanding university graduates a 2-3 year program starting with us in January/February with the aim of supporting them in their transition from study to career.

Our program is designed to focus on the needs of the individual and to educate, challenge and reward graduates in a work environment that will foster and develop them into future leaders and technical experts. Graduates assume real roles with real on-the-job responsibilities and work to investigate and solve real business issues. From the moment a graduate commences with IGO, we are committed to playing a part in the development of their career.

We also think that it is important to connect Graduates with each other and bring them together three times per year for GradConnect events with the focus on development, networking with senior leaders and having some fun!

Applications for our Graduate Program should include a covering letter stating your area of study or interest, and must be sent through to the Graduate Program advertisement, found on the IGO vacancies page, by 31 March each year.

Find out what some of our recent graduate and vacation students have to say about their experience at IGO!

Zachary

"The IGO vacation program has given me an inside view of the mining industry, and working underground has shown me the practical elements involved in being a mining engineer.

At first, the working environment was tough, but the days moved fast and before I knew it, the end of my first swing had arrived.

The people that I spend my time with really make a difference; the IGO team are easily approachable and everyone looks out for each other. They really make the shifts fly by." - Zachary, Mining Engineer Vacation Student

Trent

"The IGO graduate program has allowed me to experience all parts of our business. Broadening my knowledge of departments I would have otherwise not completely understood I feel empowered to make value adding decisions every day and really have a contribution." - Trent, Mining Engineering Graduate

Madeleine

"The IGO graduate program offers me an unparalleled breadth of experiences, open doors, and professional development. While travelling between our Nova Operation and Perth office, I have experienced the many unique opportunities that a career in the mining industry has to offer, all the while working with people who are passionate, supportive and fun.

I recommend the IGO graduate program to anyone seeking a first-rate foundation for their career, while contributing to a mining company that cares and is making a difference." – Madeleine, Graduate Human Resources Officer

Ashlyn

"The IGO vacation program has allowed me to learn about geology from industry professionals who are passionate, enthusiastic and eager to share their wisdom.

Being hands-on and helping the geologists on site is by far the best part of the program. Studying and logging rocks is not only fun, but is ultimately the best way to learn about geology.

I recommend every university student take part in a vacation program like the one IGO offers to bridge the gap between finishing university and starting a full-time career." – Ashlyn, Geologist Vacation Student

VACATION STUDENTS

The IGO Vacation Program offers both undergraduate and post graduate students the opportunity to participate in a 12-week program held over the Australian summer break - commencing in November each year with the prospect of securing a Graduate position.

We place great importance in our Vacation Program as we recognise the future of our mining industry and business success depends upon supporting today’s students. That’s why our paid Vacation Program introduces students from a range of disciplines to a range of work functions to ensure critical industry experience is gained by them to broaden the student’s future employment opportunities. Our program is specifically designed to optimise students' exposure and practical experience in their chosen discipline.

Applications for our Vacation Program should include a covering letter stating your area of study or interest, and must be sent through to the Vacation Program advertisement, found on the IGO vacancies page, by 31 March each year.

IGO is committed to development and succession planning for undergraduate students and newly graduated professionals.

Apprenticeships

IGO apprenticeships are all about practical, hands on training programs where employees are paid while they learn a trade and provide a great start to a trade-based career. IGO’s team of skilled and experienced tradespeople work together with Apprenticentre W.A. to guide apprentices through every stage of their training – both practical and theoretical – and support them to become quality trades people who are sought after to work in Mining and/or many other industries.

We are always interested in speaking to individuals who want a trade career and encourage you to contact us at Talent@igo.com.au with a covering letter stating your area of interest in the subject line of your email.
