OWNERSHIP

The Forrestania Nickel Operation has been sold to Medallion Metals Limited


LOCATION

The Forrestania Operation is located 400km east of Perth in Western Australia. 

The Ballardong people, the Marlinyu Ghoorlie people and the Ngadju people are the Traditional Owners of the land.


BACKGROUND

The Forrestania Nickel Operation was acquired by IGO in 2022 as part of the acquisition of Western Areas Limited.  

Production at Forrestania ceased in September 2024 following the exhaustion of economic resources and the site transitioned into care and maintenance.

CURRENT

On 2 March 2026, IGO Limited announced the completion of the sale of the Forrestania Nickel Operation to Medallion Metals Limited. 

Under the terms of the transaction, Medallion Metals has acquired the Forrestania Nickel Operation assets, including the Cosmic Boy processing plant, infrastructure, inventories and rehabilitation obligations.

IGO retains certain mineral rights, including rights to explore for and mine nickel and lithium, and will receive up to a 1.5% net smelter return royalty on future gold production from the Forrestania tenements. 

IGO remains committed to open and respectful engagement with stakeholders and continues to work closely with First Nations Peoples, suppliers, contractors and the local community as ownership transitions to Medallion Metals.
