LOCATION

The Forrestania Operation is located 400km east of Perth in Western Australia. 

The Ballardong people, the Marlinyu Ghoorlie people and the Ngadju people are the Traditional Owners of the land.

BACKGROUND

The Forrestania Nickel Operation was acquired by IGO in 2022 as part of the acquisition of Western Areas Limited.  

Production at Forrestania ceased in September 2024 following the exhaustion of economic resources and the site transitioned into care and maintenance.

CURRENT

IGO Limited has executed an Asset Sale Agreement that sets out the terms and conditions of Medallion Metals acquisition of the Forrestania Nickel Operation. Completion is anticipated to occur in late 2025. 

While IGO and Medallion have signed a binding agreement, the transaction is not yet complete. Over the coming months, several conditions must be met before the sale can be finalised.  

IGO is committed to open and respectful engagement with all stakeholders throughout this process. This includes, working closely with First Nations People, suppliers, contractors and local community to keep them informed.
